When your mind will get these ‘No’ messages for these distractions all the time, it will function accordingly. For example, if you are doing the work and your friend calls up…asks you to join him/her for a meet up… just tell him afterwards…(I mean after completing the work)….If your mobile beeps up some FB notification or WhatsApp message.just tell yourself…I’ll check it later! I mean you have to develop some kind of resistance for these distractions. But if you succeed in saying No to the distractions you will not only restore your focus but also increase your will power. To attain focus, you must practice saying NO to distractions by remembering WHY you had started. The same way, if you don’t bother what other people are doing and just focus on your prayers, no body can distract you.” The woman realized her mistake and thanked the priest for guiding her. You had put all your mind’s awareness to the bowl and so you didn’t notice anyone doing anything. I was just focusing on my bowl else it would spill.” “This is what I want to make you understand, my child,” said the priest, “If you focus on your task and be aware of what you are doing, no one can distract you. the priest asked, “On the way, did you see people chattering around or anybody not paying attention to the chants?” The woman said, “No, I didn’t pay any heed to the people out there. She finished the task successfully in half an hour and returned the bowl to the priest.
#AMO BACK IN FOCUS FULL#
The lady took the bowl full of holy water and started taking rounds of the temple very carefully. Afterwards, you may do whatever you said.” But remember, not even a single drop of water should spill. The priest handed over a bowl to her and said, “Take this holy water and walk around the premises of this temple three times. I get distracted in my prayers.” “Fine,” the priest said patiently, “but you have to do a ritual which one has to do before he stops coming to this temple.” The woman consented. No body respects the ambience of a temple. Once fine day, she went to the priest (pandit) and said angrily, “From tomorrow onwards, I will not come to this temple.” Priest asked worriedly, “Why? What happened?” The woman said, “Everyday I see lots of people gossiping here in the premises while the chants are going on. Once, there was a religious lady who visited a famous temple every day. Let me tell you a short story that will make you realize the power of focus. This will help you concentrate on your task. See, if you want to improve your focus, you have to be aware and do one task at a time. I have told you earlier also to avoid multi-tasking. Now, how do we do it? It can be done by practicing and being in the present moment. We need to be aware to get rid of distractions to get our lost focus back. So, there are high chances that you will be able to focus more during the start of the day. This is the time when our will power is also at its max. Mornings are great to start any task as we are on our peak energy level. During the day, we are at our best in the mornings as it’s the beginning of the day and our minds are fresh. Since childhood, we are programmed in a way that days are meant for work and nights for rest. Once you have decided to work on your focus, begin right now.

When you do the hardest task in the morning then you feel relaxed that nothing worse could come up in the later part of the day.

This means that first of all, you should do the hardest or the most important task for the day. One more tip from my side–there’s a saying – Eat the live frog first. You will see how smoothly your day progresses. So I recommend doing single task at a time. Priority setting makes you do single work at a time with full concentration. So, keep a journal in which you can write down all your priorities for the day. When we plan our day according to our priorities, we tend to finish all our lined up tasks. In order to attain focus, we have to plan things. So just clear your Purpose or Goal as to why you are doing a particular work and distractions will be gone. Now, did you get distracted by anything this time? No…because your purpose was clear that you wanted to save your life. Would you jump? No.never! But, if I tell you that there’s fire on the first floor of your house as well as staircase, then you will jump without wasting a second. When we will remember our ‘PURPOSE’ of doing that work, we will never get distracted and lose focus.įor example, if I tell you to jump from your single-storey house. To gain focus, we should always remember why we are doing a particular work…whether it is to impress our boss or improve our skills or just want to finish the project on time.
